Chronicles of Arithmos

Privacy Policy

  1. Commitment to Learner Privacy

Chronicles of Arithmos is an educational math role-playing game developed as an undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) capstone project at Dominican College of Tarlac (DCT), College of Computer Studies (CCS).

Our research focuses on supporting elementary school students (Grades 4 to 6, ages 9 to 12) in overcoming math anxiety through gamified, curriculum-aligned combat mechanics based on the Department of Education (DepEd) MATATAG guidelines. We operate with a strict privacy-by-design model: the platform does not collect, track, or monetize personal information from students, teachers, or parents.

  2. Zero Personal Data Collection and No Accounts

You can play Chronicles of Arithmos without ever creating an account or providing personal details:

    • We do not require user accounts, email addresses, phone numbers, or passwords.
    • We do not collect names, ages, home addresses, or student ID numbers.
    • We do not request or store payment details, credit card numbers, or billing addresses.
    • We do not request device permissions for camera, microphone, contacts, or location access.

The game is free to access directly in your web browser or as a Windows desktop download without signing in.

  3. Local Device Storage and Save Files

All gameplay progress, character levels, earned badges, unlocked realms, audio volume settings, and combat records are stored exclusively on your local device.

    • Web Browser Version: Progress is saved strictly to your browser's local storage (localStorage).
    • Windows Desktop Version: Progress is saved locally in the game application's directory on your computer.

No save data or math performance metrics are transmitted to, synchronized with, or stored on external cloud databases. Clearing your browser's site data, history, or cache will reset your local web save file. Because data is not kept on an external server, reset or lost save files cannot be recovered by the developers.

  4. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Multiplayer Privacy

Chronicles of Arithmos includes an optional cooperative multiplayer feature using direct peer-to-peer (P2P) WebRTC communication via temporary room codes.

    • Multiplayer sessions connect directly between client devices without passing gameplay actions or messages through a centralized server.
    • We do not record, monitor, or store multiplayer room data, game states, or player inputs on remote servers.
    • When a session concludes or the host player leaves, the direct peer connection closes immediately and permanently.
  5. Child Safety and Regulatory Compliance

Because Chronicles of Arithmos is created for primary school learners, we strictly follow child protection and data privacy standards:

    • We comply with the principles of the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
    • We adhere to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) guidelines regarding the protection of children's online privacy.
    • We do not conduct behavioral profiling, commercial data tracking, or student monitoring.
    • The platform contains no advertisements, sponsored promotions, or in-game purchases.
  6. Third-Party Static Resources

Our website loads standard static assets from trusted public delivery networks, such as web typography from Google Fonts and utility stylesheets.

These third-party providers only serve standard web assets to your browser. We do not integrate third-party advertising trackers, social network tracking pixels, or marketing analytics software.

  7. Managing and Erasing Your Information

Because all save information is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over your data:

    • To delete all web game data, clear your browser's site data, cookies, or local storage for this website.
    • To delete desktop game data, remove the downloaded game folder from your computer.

There is no need to contact us or submit an account deletion request, as no personal or account records exist on our systems.

  8. Academic Context and Inquiries

Chronicles of Arithmos: A 2D Role Playing Game with Dynamic Math Based Combat System and Adaptive Difficulty Scaling is an undergraduate academic capstone project developed by BS Information Technology students at the Dominican College of Tarlac (DCT), College of Computer Studies (CCS).

The project investigates how game-based learning mechanics help elementary students address math anxiety, aligning with the Department of Education (DepEd) MATATAG curriculum for Grades 4 to 6 (covering basic arithmetic to multi-step Order of Operations / PEMDAS).

If you have questions, feedback, or academic inquiries regarding this Privacy Policy or the game, please contact the project team through the official academic repository or the Dominican College of Tarlac College of Computer Studies.
